Lunedi Lunacy

It’s been a while since I featured anything by one of my favourite British comedians: Harry Enfield. With his partner Paul Whitehouse he created a raft of characters that continually “take the piss”. No more so than that smug entrepreneur and charlatan Marcus and the posh crowd from Notting Hill.

The words “boutique” and “organic” have lost all meaning over the past decade or two. Now they would appear to be the code word for “over priced”.

And the same would seem to apply to the words “vintage” and “retro” – what ever happened to “used clothes”?

The word for June 7th is:
Organic /ôrˈɡanik/: [adjective]
1. Relating to or derived from living matter.
2. Of food or farming methods: produced or involving production without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or other artificial agents.
3. Relating to a bodily organ or organs.
4. Denoting a relation between elements of something such that they fit together harmoniously as necessary parts of a whole.
Late Middle English: via Latin from Greek organikos ‘relating to an organ or instrument’.

  1. I’ve never seen these before. It’s amazing (well, sad) how reality based they are. I remember the first time I drove by a “Previously Owned Cars” lot and had to take a moment to understand that they simply meant “used.”
