Norse Legends VIII

Yes Lurker the number sequence is screwed up again. It’s a long very uninteresting story.

Last evening as we were having dinner at the Pinacle Grill there was a slight jarring sound and outside the window a ladder descended. A minute later a man clambered up and disappeared to a deck above. I heard someone say “It’s the pirate.” and immediately thought: Oh my god it’s a Viking raid! Turns out like Ruth I had been a foolish nursery maid and misheard. It was the Pilot!

At 179 kms Hardangerfjord is the second largest fjord in Norway and the third largest in the world.

The slow progress through the Hardangerfjord in the middle of the night was to take the next few hours. We reached the town of Eidfjord at end of the Fjord around 0700 this morning. As I opened the curtains at 0830 this was the view:

Fortunately we will be retracing our steps back to the mouth of the Fjord in early afternoon so what was missed during the night will be seen on the return. Unfortunately I will only be able to see it from the window of our stateroom. Not quite how I intended to do this but health and safety first.

September 10th – well I think we pretty much covered that one earlier today.

  1. It must have been disappointing to find out it wasn’t a proper Viking raid but only some silly old Pilot.
On the other hand what on earth was the pilot doing I want to know.
