Lunedi Lunacy

Though perhaps not a true “lunacy” this little vignette by Shappi Khorsandi from the British series Little Crackers is rather sweet and funny in a way that anyone who was ever an outsider as an adolescent and told “the big lie” can now laugh at with a certain rueful nostalgia.

This is only one of the 35 episodes in this delightful Christmas series that ran in 2010, 2011 and 2012 on Sky-TV.  British and Irish entertainers wrote, directed and/or appeared in stories of childhood memories – funny, melancholy, thoughtful, or just downright silly. I only wish more of this delightful series were available on YouTube.  Though I was able to find the Stephen Fry only clips of the Dawn French (as the Queen Mum) and Jack Whitehall (as the campiest little boy in the neighbourhood if not creation) are available.  Damn, damn and damn again say I.

On this day in 1860: The discovery of the planet Vulcan is announced at a meeting of the French Academy of Sciences in Paris.
