Café – Caffè – Coffee

Well Mr Beaulieu has written a very interesting post on coffee and how it is regarded in our simple home:

Larry Muffin At Home

This post was inspired by a remark in a post by the esteemed Dr. SPO who many know for his Reflections at

I am trying to remember my first encounter with the terrible brown water stuff which passed for coffee in most government offices in Ottawa, the Capital of this fair Dominion. Back then coffee came from a machine or a communal pot which was never washed and the coffee was provided by a company serving chemically enhanced so called flavoured coffee. Most Civil Servants back then, this was pre-Tim Hortons Days or Starbucks in Canada, would drink about 25 cups on average per day. It was pretty vile but hey this is Ottawa what did you expect. There was also an honour system, you were suppose to pay the equivalent of $1.00 per week for the coffee you drank to help the fund to purchase more of that…

  1. Hey this doesn’t count as a post, tsk tsk! I think you copied Larry’s homework young man! Now you have to do a report on tea! Lol.

  2. I was going to haughtily ignore this comment however then I saw the “young” and blushed becomingly, as is my wont, and I will hang my head in shame at being caught. Do I get a canning for this, sir?

  3. Hmmm, canning seems too extreme, maybe a light spanking, yes that’s it, a spanking because you have been a very very bad boy and need discipline. Well as long as “L” is into that sort of thing, or you could go to the CP tonight since it’s leather night. I am sure you could find lots of people there who would do it. Just stay away from the guy with the assless chaps, it’s so embarrassing when Harper does that.

  4. Lol, there was this guy that used to always show up in assless chaps (no it wasn’t me) and the complete leather outfit including the scary leather mask, I think with a mouth zipper. If you are wondering if he was hot, think of a troll in leather.

We used to go there to dance the same night, no I’m serious it was for the dancing, that’s how I know… really… dancing.
