And a few more items in my continuing attempt to make up for the paucity in household tips in the past three years:

Reheat Pizza

Heat leftover pizza in a nonstick skillet on top of the stove; set heat to med-low and heat till warm. This keeps the crust crispy. No soggy micro pizza. I saw this on the food channel and it really works.

Reheating refrigerated

To warm biscuits, pancakes, or muffins that were refrigerated, place them in a microwave next to a cup of water. The increased moisture will keep the food moist and help it reheat faster.


Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill with hot water. Dump out the hot water, but don’t dry cup. Next, add your ingredient (peanut butter, honey, etc.) and watch how easily it comes right out.

  2. another way to reheat bread or in my granddaughters case.chocolate cookies..just take a square of paper towel..dampen it and wrap it losely around the biscuit or what ever and zap it for about 10-15 seconds

    Slightly related, I was holding a copy of the Silver Spoon last week. I still have the book vouchers, I might go back and get it…

  5. PS. Pancakes can easily be reheated in the microwave between two plates (which is how my mother always used to store them anyway, so that was easy).

    Also, if you have a loaf of bread that's a bit dry, run it quickly under running water, so that the entire outside is wet, before putting it in the oven for a bit. Comes out like new! (I admit I got that from Martha Stewart once, while flipping channels.)
